Description
The “Grande Prairie Children’s Theatre” is an independent theatre company who strives to bring quality musical theatre education to the youth in our community.
Our musical theatre program is a children/teen program that started in October of 2023 for students who like to sing, dance, act, and are intrigued by the behind-the-scenes of full theatrical productions.
Our students have been hard at work learning new skills, honing their crafts, and making new friends. They have been memorizing lines, choreography and song to perform for our upcoming final production.
Our Music Theatre Producer and Director, Ms. Nikki Meers-Fournier; Professional Choreographer, Jeannine Younger; Stage Manager, Hailey Hater; Assistant Stage Manager, Caitlyn Lynch, and approximately 32 students (ages ranging from 7 to 17) are very excited to present Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.” on April 25th – 27th at the Grande Prairie Live Theatre.
About the musical
The 60-minute musical, is based on the 2009 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film. This classic Disney title contains all the songs from the Academy Award® winning animated feature film as well as three new songs from the Broadway show.
The Little Mermaid Jr. takes place in the magical kingdom beneath the sea, where a beautiful young mermaid named Ariel longs to leave her ocean home to in the world above. But first, she’ll have to defy her father, the king of the sea, escape the clutches of an evil sea witch and convince a prince that she’s the girl with the perfect voice.
