The Youth Orchestra
This group offers an exceptional opportunity for young musicians to develop their ensemble skills in a supportive environment.
Students must be at least 10 years old with a suggested 2 years of private instruction. The group will consist of string instruments (violin, viola, cello, double bass).
Krista McLauchlan (B.Mus, B.Ed, CERTESL) studied cello with Tanya Prochazka at the University for Alberta. Upon completion of her studies, she has taught string classes and conducted orchestras since 2001. She has participated in many conducting workshops and seminars including the University of Toronto wind band conducting symposium and the conducting workshops of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra under the tutelage of Cosette Justo Valdes. Her passion, other than her family, is bringing the joy of orchestral music making to young musicians.

The Symphony Orchestra
Under the direction of Dr. Bob Howey the Symphony Orchestra has been performing since 2015. This group continues to attract our region’s best symphonic players who delight in performing classics and new works. The group was developed out of the pit orchestra for the GPLT performance of Les Miserables.
The program features The Nutcracker Suite, Christmas selections, and music by Mozart, Brahms, Gounod, Vaughan Williams, and Leroy Anderson.
